There appears to be a bug in the iOS 5 code where if the iCloud feature is enabled, the battery of the phone is consumed at an alarming rate.  You can actually watch the battery percentage decrease in real time.

Until Apple resolves this issue, the work around is to delete the iCloud account from the device.

Settings > iCloud > "Delete Account"

With iCloud enabled in iOS5, the iPhone 4 has a battery life of about 2-3 hours, even when sitting idle and locked.  When the iCloud account is deleted from the device, in my experience, the battery lasts 3 to 4 days on a full charge.

The battery life with iOS 5 isn't much different than iOS 4 (maybe a

little less) with my iPod Touch 4G. The problem is with its poor memory

management. It might not be much of a problem on the iPad, iPad 2,

iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S but it is on the more limited memory devices

like iPod Touch 4G (and the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G, I'm assuming)

Now some apps appear to run slow or crash because they consume too much

memory. The Milwaukee Art Museum app always crashes and Angry Birds

runs slow. Even built-in apps appear to run slow. Like when I'm using

the Photos app and try to scroll through my photos and it freezes every

few seconds. Also when I'm listening to music and put my iPod Touch to

sleep and wake it up it sometimes freezes for several seconds before

showing my music, it also does this when I switch back to the music app

from something else. Also when I'm using Safari on a web page with a

considerable amount of content (Like Swagbucks) and I try to zoom in or

go to a textbox it causes Safari to crash with a "Low Memory" entry in

the log with either MobileSafari or Springboard reported as the largest

process. Looking at my Diagnostics and Usage Log, about 90% of them are

"Low Memory" entries.

Hello AnapotValencia,

We appreciate the feedback.  It sounds as though the issue you described in your reply may be different from the one in the original post.  For example, although IOS 5 ran with no speed/hanging issues on my Iphone 4, the battery still drained rather quickly.  Hopefully Apple can patch the memory leak issues you described in your message above.  Thank you again for contributing!
